Sandeep Silas, one of 15 international leaders on Systemic Leaders Module B in London 23-25 October 2012, wants to enrol you in his exciting breakthrough initiative. He is also a travel writer and poet who has done his Masters of Public Administration at The Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs, Syracuse University, New York My current challenge is giving leadership to 28,000 staff in the toughest railway division in India, managing the safe and punctual running of 1250 suburban trains per day, 70 mail/express trains every day, carrying 3.5 million passengers per day. But my blog is about a different challenge. I want to bring a paradigm shift in the world from War towards Peace. This grows from my attempts to unify hearts between India and Pakistan. I wish to place before the United Nations a bold idea that I have evolved, to declare war ruins as “Peace Heritage Sites”. Amongst 11 sites identified so far are Death Valley Railway in Thailand, St Paul church in Ambala Cantt (a reminder of the Indo-Pak war in 1971), Buddha’s statues in Bamiyan (Afghanistan), also Pearl Harbor, Hiroshima, Auschwitz and the Berlin Wall. We must not allow the memories of destruction by invading armies, rape, looting, genocide of a race to fade from the people of the world. The Peace Heritage Sites by keeping before us the real effects of war encourage us to take that last chance of diplomacy, and refrain from pressing the button to war. To show your support please write on the peace wall here: Peace Wall For the full blog text please visit: Garland of Peace Blog Many thanks, Sandeep Silas, 6 November 2012
