After spending the weekend reading the newspapers, a thought came to me. What if we challenged journalists to research all aspects of a story, not just report it? What if they were challenged to not only report on an issue or crisis, but to seek out a story of an individual or organisation that was doing something towards a solution, and detail HOW and WHAT they were doing so that others could learn from this and build on their work. This is not about finding warm and sweet “happy” stories, but about journalists being challenged to be part of creating solutions for the world they are reporting on and in which they live. How would our newspapers be different and how would our world potentially be different?
